OKEH CAFE ABBEYDALE ROAD SHEFFIELD

Heres a new cafe opening in sheffield this weekend, the lad on the left with the brown jacket is an old scooter boy,at one time russ had a truly awesome GP which old scooterists will know as "West Side Story"which in the 80s won him loads of trophies at various custom shows.

THE FOLLOWING IS FROM SHEFFIELD'S STAR NEWSPAPER
WELCOME to Sheffield’s scooter central – boasting a Sixties-style scene that’s sure to be the place for the city’s ace faces. This Sunday sees the launch of the Okeh Cafe on Abbeydale Road – with more than 150 scooterists expected to join the party. It’s the brainchild of Russ Sutton and Chris Lee, who have been fans of Lambrettas and Vespas since they were in their teens, more than 40 years ago.Memories of the mod era will flood back thanks to the cafe’s formica tables, leatherette booths and a rare 1959 Rock-ola jukebox playing Tamla Motown, Northern Soul, ska and r’n’b.Russ said: “We are two Sheffield lads who, having been on a ride out with 70-plus fellow scooterists, decided it was time to open a meeting place for our mobile mates. “What better way to turn the clock back to the times when you could grab a cappuccino in coffee bars and milk bars while listening to a great selection of tunes on the jukebox?”

Northern soul at its finest!! some truly great tracks here from the casino, many things have been wrote about this club so im not going into it here, my older sister went a few times back in the 70s,i reckon Saturday Night Fever was based on this club and the whole scenario of dressing up to go out and dancing till dawn, better then getting pissed and fighting eh?

ARSEne WENGER MOANS AT KENNY DALGLISH

Oh dear! looks like clive dunn had another whinge on sunday with the last minute penalty given to liverpool that just about dumps ARSE'S "keepyupy big kid come and get the ball off me,in the playground" Team of  "superstars" out of the running for the premiership title, Good ole Kenny dalglish for telling clive dunn to "Piss off",i wish i had clive dunn's eyesight as he could clearly see the push by one of his "superstars" on a liverpool player thru a crowd of players and at least 100 yards away as well! But according to the "whinging one" it wasnt a penalty, even tho the ref was stood at least 90 yards nearer!
I F**king hate ARSEnal with a passion as wenger has ruined this once great game with his team of "dont dare tackle my players" style of playing, i hope you win F**K ALL for the next 50 years!!

CHESTERFIELD FC B2NET STADIUM

I had a drive past chesterfield's new state of the art stadium and was well impressed, its on my list and ive not had the chance to actually go to a game there yet,but by all accounts its quite a nice stadium,so as i was passing i thought i would try and get a couple of pictures of the ground mainly from the outside, anyway the ground is easy to find near enough straight off the motorway or just head for tesco's giant new superstore! from "our end" of town its a trip down the dronfield bypass and then along whittington moor, the old A61 road near enough opposite where that nightclub was where we all would get the shite kicked out of us!i think at one time the land was a huge glass factory or something, its a lovely little stadium with parking around most of the sides of the ground and you could make the excuse of taking your missus shopping and she could quite easily spend a couple of hours in the tesco which is bang next door!
I watched chesterfield for a couple of seasons around the early 90s with a neighbour at the old saltergate or recreation ground which was a proper old style football ground,it looks like wednesday will be playing chesterfield next season so heres another to mark off the list, not sure of the capacity its maybe around 10,000 with the option of filling in the corners to add more, but what little i saw from the outside its well worth a visit. The daft thing is,that its probably nearer to my house then hillsborough and probably easier to get to!!
