OCTOBER! WHAT A GREAT MONTH!!

Well here we are at the end of october, its been a good month, especially for sheffield wednesday! after a bad september which saw us drop down the table, we rallied and came back to earn 6 points away and 4 at home, and thru to the next round of the johnstones paint trophy after a thrilling end to end game against chesterfield which ended in wednesday winning 8-7 on pens! a good win today away at charlton should see us up to 3rd in the table with a bit of luck, and a great away draw in the Fa cup 1st round at southport,in october i posted 21 times, so hopefully it will be around the same number in November, couple of gigs to go to as well which are interpol at manchester apollo, and Paul weller at sheffield arena, and hopefully a table topping sheffield wednesday, although brighton look to be setting a great pace at the top, still early days yet and we are by no means playing our best football, its around january that we need to start putting the goals away and hopefully by then we should have some investment! but dont count your chickens!!
and please please please, if you download any of the links please just leave a comment, as its nice to know who's watching and listening to the blog!

THE BUZZCOCKS JOHN PEEL SESSIONS 1977-78

Heres 3 more great john peel sessions that are available to download from amazon at the great price of
£1.69 each, the 1st is from september 1977 and features
1 Fast Cars
2 Moving away from the pulsebeat
3 What do i get?
this session has a great version of "fast cars",which sounds truly fresh and exciting even after 33 years, next is "moving away from the pulsebeat",which for the year 77 was a truly great punk track which was a hell of a brave thing to do at the time, bearing in mind most bands knocked out 2-3 minute songs! final track on this 1st session is a personal favourite of mine which is "what do i get?" yet another great raw sounding version of this single release.
Next cd is the session from april 1978,featuring the b-side of "love you more" which was "noise annoys" a quick 3 minute blast of poppy guitar riffs, then 2 album tracks from the 2nd album "Love bites" of "walking distance" and the truly awesome instrumental "Late for the train" with the thundering drums and buzzsaw guitars make this a truly great track.
Final cd in this set is from october 1978 and features the singles "Promises" and the b-side of "Lipstick" with the guitar riff of "shot by both sides" appearing throughout the track, "Sixteen again" from the "Love bites" album and the single "Everybodys happy nowadays" there is a 4th in this set from 1979 which i havnt got around to downloading yet, but i can recommend all three of these download only releases.

PAUL WELLER VH 1 UNCUT

not sure what year this is as i found it on a disc, 6 tracks and interview.

THE LEN PRICE 3 RENTACROWD

i first came across this band in january of this year via a sunday times review of there latest album pictures, doing an online search to find more out about the band i found that they are from the great Rock/Garage area of medway, well know for producing great bands such as the prisoners (another story)

 the band comprises of,
Glenn Page - Guitar/vocals
Steven Huggins - Bass
Neil Fromow - Drums/vocals
the album i bought was 2007's "Rentacrowd" and immediately i was hooked on this raw mix of stripped down guitar/bass/drums stooges, ramones, mid 60s garage guitar sound.
TRACKLISTING

If I Ain't Got You
Julia Jones
Sailor's Sweetheart
Doctor Gee

The band have 2 other albums out "Pictures" and "Chinese burn" which i think is only available on import as the band i think are signed to a american label, thats about as much as i know about the band, apart from the fact that "rentacrowd" has been pretty much played non stop either on the cd player or on my mp3 player! i recommend you check this awesome band out!

SHAM 69 DONCASTER OUTLOOK 1978

this is one i bought recently from ebay, mainly as its from a local punk club that had a short run of most of the top punk/new wave bands in the late 70s for a couple of years, and is sadly no more, not a big fan of sham apart from the early stuff, it cost me 3 quid a bargain! and ive just remade the covers thats all.
