i first came across this song around 1980-81 on a compilation of the sixties band The Action,they had covered this song in 1966, it eventually became one of my favourites although i knew it was a cover version, having been given a mod compilation featuring various bands and artists from around the sixties and 79 eras i found this truly awesome recording, i knew of the marvelettes but didnt know they did the original.The Marvelettes were an American singing girl group on the Tamla label. Motown's first successful female vocal group, the Marvelettes are most notable for recording the company's first #1 Pop hit, "Please Mr. Postman", and for setting the precedent for later Motown girl groups such as Martha and the Vandellas and the Supremes. the lineup featured;

Gladys Horton, Katherine Anderson, Georgeanna Tillman, and Wanda Young.the song was composed by Mickey Stevenson and Ivy Jo Hunter, and was released on the tamla motown label in 1965, having listened to this a lot over the last few months i cant believe that i missed this, so its a new hidden gem to me, by todays standards this is truly awesome and could never be got near in a million years by the simon cowell generation of poor 5th rate karaoke singers parading every saturday night on mainstream tv.
